Beta Fishes

About Betas

Beta Fishes as PetsBetas are in the fresh water fish family. They ones that are commonly purchased are the males. Females are commonly a bland gray or brown while the mate are normally bright blue, green, red, purple, or even yellow coloring. Which makes the males more attractive and more commonly sought after. Never have 2 male betas in the same jar for they will fight to the death, and never have betas with other fish, most of the time the betas will live up to their 2 nick names and kill the other fish living in their tanks. “Nicknames?” You say, yes they are know as Japanese Samurai Fighting Fish and rumble fish. This doesn’t apply to the females, they will not fight if you have multiples in the same tank or jar. Both genders are diverse and unique as two differing species.

Much like the goldfish, betas can breather air. Betas are found in the wild living in puddles of mud and have to use their limited lungs to jump from puddle to puddle to mate.

These fish are idea for people with little need for pets or lack of space.

What Beta Fishes Eat

They commonly eat a special diet, but are particular to freeze dried bloodworms. They are also particular to eating their young, if you ever consider to mate them.

Other Characteristics of Beta Fish

The typical beta can live for up to two years on average. They appear to be casual fish, but can move quickly when the need surfaces. They are also elegant in appearance, but are among the more durable of fish. Perhaps that is why they are so prone to fight with other fish.

Seeing these inch fish with their long flowing fins on can forget that these fish are as aggressive as they are or that they commonly reside in the muck on the ground. They jump from puddle to puddle in search of mates.
