Cats as Pets Felines or cats are in a league of their own. Unlike dogs, cats are more independent. They can survive in the out doors and endure situations most people would not believe. Then there are the cats that are more suited for the indoors. Cats come in a variety of colors and sizes ranging from the large and heave Persian cats to the smaller common cat. Cats are related to the powerful lions and tigers, which probably why they are born predators that hunt for insects, mice, birds, and sometimes even bats. Cats are very agile and have superior night vision, which is when they common search for prey if outside.

Cats are as diverse as we are, and can be quite a challenge if you choose the wrong species. It is recommended that any serious prospective pet owner look at the breed of the cat before buying them.

What Cats Eat

Ever see how people give cats milk? This has actually be recently discovered to be bad. It can give any cat problems with their digestive tract and can cause serious health issues.

Other Characteristics of Cats

People commonly think that their rough tongues are for lapping up mile or other fluids, this is only partially right. It was used for when they were in the wild to lap up a prey’s blood. The tongue is also meant for bathing (they clean themselves)., which is why cats tend to cough up hairballs.

If you ever see a feline rolling in the dirt, don’t get mad. This is a means for them to give a dirt bath, it helps get rid of pests that can harbor in their beautiful coats.
