About Fishes

Fishes as PetsEver want fish? There are many different types, but the first question should always be fresh water or salt. The salt water ones are usually more exotic, but require a lot more work to maintain. These are usually more ideal for office settings. Salt water fish are quite a sight to see as they can become quite large and you can also get coral and starfish for the tank as well, to give the tank a flare of diversity. The major drawback for salt water tanks is the mineral build up, mainly the salt. it can effectively clog the pump, gets crusty along the water ling and can look overall ugly, hence why the tanks need to be taken care of often. Slat water tanks tend to be rather large and usually people stock them with a few fish that will excel in size growth and will be a presence to behold.

Fresh water fish, on the other hand, are ideal anywhere. The easiest is the goldfish. They don’t require any pump, heater, or water circulation. They are also capable of breathing air for short periods of time. For kids they are the easiest, but not always the most pretty.

For maintaining the tank, the best animals to get are the aquatic snails. They won’t eat the other aquatic life and you will just have to make sure they don’t over populate the tank.

Choosing Fish Breed

Some fresh water fish to consider would be angelfish, with their long curved spines; tetra, with this twin black streaks; and even other aquatic life. There are crabs, aquatic salamanders, and even certain types of vegetarian eels.

There are a few breeds of fish that are sought after, but not recommended. Most breeds related to the piranha or shark should be avoided. Although, there are some breeds related to the shark that are ideal to have.
